The movie Maleficent was released in 2014, directed by Robert Stromberg, starring Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, and Sharlto Copley. The film is adapted from Sleeping Beauty and tells the story of a young fairy who guards the forest and suffers merciless betrayal. In order to retaliate, she casts an evil curse on the princess of the human king; however, as the princess grows up, she finds that the child may be someone who can restore peace to a troubled land. edgeoflight published a review of the film titled "A Poignant, Modern and Relevant Adaptation" and stated in the review that this film not only changed the status and performance of female characters, but also changed the definition of love. "It's no longer about romantic love, it's about humane love." (edgeoflight)

I think the most interesting part of the movie is the last true love kiss, which "subverts the love of men and women." True love kiss is the core of classic fairy tales including Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, etc. It is the so-called "true love kiss" "And the sentence "The prince and the princess live happily ever after" seem to define the passive status of women. They seem to always need and wait for a "prince" to save them. However, in fact, very few people can get the kiss of true love. Yes, most of them were killed by the "prince." "Sleeping Curse" subverted the core theme of traditional fairy tales in an unexpected way: it was the affectionate kiss of Marlene Fissen that saved the princess. This kiss was It is understood as the love between the two female protagonists and the love of mother and daughter. In my opinion, it symbolizes a close alliance of women. The relationship between Marlene Fissen and Princess Aurora is both mother and daughter and sister It is both a fellow and a friend, and it is also the mutual love and trust between women's alliances. Unlike the previous movies, this kind of love and trust is far stronger and stronger than the relationship between men and women, and it is more redeemable than male rule.
